The Vizsla, also known as a Hungarian Pointer, flourished for centuries as a hunting dog in Hungary. In the time between World War I and World War II the numbers of the breeds diminished. Although an excellent sporting dog, this breed is also a wonderful companion and family dog. They require lots of attention and should be incorporated into a family to make them feel whole.

The Vizsla, a medium sized dog that is golden-rust in color and whose eyes usually blend with the coat. People tend to think my Vizsla runs like a Grayhound or mistake him for a Weimaraner. My dog is a little bit bigger than breed standard but he is not a show dog.

For a complete explanation of the Vizslas history and characteristics, see the Book "Veratle Vizsla " by Marion I. Coffman, an excellent source of information.
